A Full Team!
Nisimazine team has an extremely wide selection of films coming from the 20th Black Nights Film Festival, stretching from International Hollywood premieres, to low-key arthouse Estonian dramas.
With all its faults, the film has an additional layer in its portrayal of the teenage psyche but will eventually come to the age-old conclusion that it’s all gonna be alright in the end, a common message expressed through common means.
Kelly Fremon Craig’s The Edge of Seventeen by Ismene Daskarolis
A bit uneven piece of cinema, with background themes speaking louder and clearer than the main story.
Kadri Kõusaar’s Mother by Marko Stojiljković
A first feature that shows quite a distinctive handwriting, stays with you and makes you wish for a happy future for its main characters and the director’s next film.
Tereza Kotyk’s Home is Here by Marian Willhelm
While the characters reach their moment of clarity in the aftermath of their individual breakdowns, the viewer, unfortunately, will not have the benefit of such revelation, due to the film’s over-ambitious and dense but underdeveloped structure.
Florian Hoffmeister’s The Have-Nots by Sabine Kues
